What are the benefits of NFC Print Marketing?

Saturday, August 12th, 2023

If you have not heard of NFC print marketing, then this is your lucky day. 2023 may just be finishing, but 2024 shows no signs of the print marketing industry beginning to slow. Businesses striving for growth must extend their reach through robust online marketing strategies. That’s why it is important to look at the benefits of NFC print marketing. And Purely Digital have experience…

While digital methods effectively broaden horizons, integrating Near Field Communication (NFC) marketing can add a compelling edge. NFC, a proximity marketing strategy, involves interaction with physical objects embedded with NFC stickers. Working at close distances, these stickers open avenues for unique marketing possibilities. Below, we have a look at the ways NFC can enhance your marketing campaigns with a numbered list.

1. Elevate Engagement with NFC Tags

Businesses can elevate customer engagement by integrating NFC labels into products and store spaces. For instance, embedding NFC digital tags into clothing labels allows customers to tap for additional information, such as matching items or alternative colour schemes. Samsung, for example, showcased phone features through NFC posters, enhancing engagement and creating brand awareness.

2. Showcase More Products

Overcome the limitations of physical retail space by using NFC tags to direct customers to online inventories. Encourage on-site engagement with vouchers, bridging the gap between in-store and online purchases.

3. Craft Interactive Advertisements

Enhance engagement through interactive advertisements by deploying NFC stickers on signages and banners. Customers can tap to access detailed product information, videos, store locations, and more. Offer incentives, such as vouchers, to further drive participation.

4. Connect Customers to Loyalty Programs

Leverage NFC at checkout kiosks and POS machines to enrol loyal customers in loyalty programs seamlessly. This creates added value for customers and fosters brand loyalty.

5. Access Product Reviews and Ratings Instantly

Bridge the gap between online and in-store shopping by allowing customers to tap NFC stickers to access online reviews. Positive reviews can influence purchasing decisions, while negative reviews can be addressed in real-time.

6. Tap to Learn About Products or Services

Offer a contactless way to provide detailed information about products or services through NFC tags. This includes product descriptions, warranty information, manuals, and allergen details for food products.

7. Encourage Repeat Sales

Integrate NFC stickers into product packaging, enabling customers to tap and reorder online. Use this feature to drive traffic to the website and introduce voucher codes for enhanced customer loyalty.

8. Gain Surprising Insights

Utilise NFC technology to gather customer engagement data and gain insights into product usage patterns. This information can optimise advertising campaigns by timing them to align with store product availability.

What are the benefits of NFC Print Marketing?

NFC technologies emerge as powerful allies in the realm of marketing, complementing existing strategies and enhancing overall campaigns. With its versatility, offline functionality, and user-friendly tap-to-transfer data, NFC stands out as a robust business tool.

As you embark on this journey, partnering with reputable suppliers like Purely Digital ensures a seamless supply of NFC business cards and tags, facilitating the integration of this innovative technology into your marketing arsenal. Plus, with Purely Digital, every order contributes to tree planting—a sustainable printing approach to business growth. Elevate your marketing game with the simplicity and effectiveness of NFC technology.

How Printing Companies and Cybersecurity are mixing

Monday, May 8th, 2023

Printing companies can play a role in assisting businesses with cybersecurity in several ways. While scratchcards and large-format printing can have specific applications, in the below article, we provide some alternative ways in which printing companies can support cybersecurity efforts:

Secure Document Printing

Printing companies can help businesses print sensitive documents, such as contracts, financial reports, or legal documents, with enhanced security features. These features may include watermarks, holograms, tamper-evident materials, or special inks that can deter counterfeiting and ensure document authenticity.

ID Card Printing

Printing companies can assist in producing secure identification cards for employees, customers, or visitors. These cards can incorporate various security elements like holographic overlays, microprinting, UV inks, and barcode/QR code encoding to prevent unauthorised access and identity fraud.

Security Labels and Stickers

Furthermore, Printing companies can create customised security labels or stickers that businesses can use to seal packages, equipment, or sensitive documents. These labels may feature unique serial numbers, holograms, or tamper-evident designs to indicate if any unauthorised access or tampering has occurred.

Training Materials

Printing companies can produce informative and visually appealing materials like brochures, posters, or infographics that businesses can use to educate their employees about cybersecurity best practices. These materials can highlight password security, phishing awareness, data protection, and safe browsing habits.

Security Signage

While not limited to large format printing, printing companies can produce signage to reinforce security messages within the organisation. These signs can remind employees about the importance of data protection, adherence to security policies, or reporting suspicious activities.

What are scratchcards more known for?

It’s worth noting that scratchcards are more commonly associated with activities like lottery promotions or one-time password (OTP) distribution in specific industries. However, the secure transmission of passwords is generally done through encrypted channels or secure password management systems rather than physical methods like scratchcards.

In summary, printing companies can provide various security-enhancing solutions such as secure document printing, ID card printing, security labels, training materials, and signage to support businesses’ cybersecurity efforts.

So who are Purely Digital?

Purely Digital is a printing company that specialises in providing innovative solutions for cybersecurity, including the secure sharing of passwords using scratchcards. Our approach aims to address the challenge of transmitting sensitive login credentials securely and conveniently.

We offer scratchcards as a secure method for organisation password distribution. The scratchcards are designed to resemble traditional lottery-style scratch-off cards. Each card contains a unique password that is concealed by a secure coating. Users can reveal the password by scratching off the coating, ensuring that the information remains protected until it is needed.

How printing companies can help with cybersecurity

This approach offers several advantages in terms of cybersecurity:

Physical Distribution

By utilising scratchcards, Purely Digital enables businesses to distribute passwords physically rather than relying on potentially vulnerable digital channels. This reduces the risk of interception or unauthorised access to sensitive login credentials.

Convenience and Accessibility

The scratchcards provide a user-friendly method for employees to receive passwords. The physical nature of the cards allows for easy distribution to individuals, ensuring that each person gets their unique password securely.

Tamper-Evident Design

The scratch-off coating on the cards ensures that any tampering attempts are evident. If someone tries to remove and reseal the layer, the manipulation will be noticeable. This helps maintain the integrity of the password distribution process and prevents unauthorised individuals from tampering with the cards.

It’s important to note that while using scratchcards for password distribution can be a unique and creative solution, it may only be suitable for some organisations or situations. The applicability of this method may depend on factors such as the number of users, the frequency of password changes, and the specific security requirements of the business.

So why use Purely Digital?

Ultimately, Purely Digital offers an innovative solution to address the challenge of securely sharing passwords through scratchcards. This approach provides a physical and tamper-evident method for distributing login credentials, reducing the risks associated with digital transmission. However, businesses should evaluate their specific needs and consider consulting with cybersecurity professionals to determine the most appropriate and effective methods for password management within their organisation.

Why it is cheaper to work with companies outside of London?

Monday, March 6th, 2023

There are several reasons why it may be cheaper to work with companies outside of London. There are some particular industries in which London is highlighted as being more expensive, including the printing industry. Printing companies in London are more expensive because their overheads and outgoings are more. Use companies who deliver to London instead. Here’s why companies outside of London are better to work with:

  1. Lower operating costs: Companies outside of London often have lower operating expenses, such as rent, utilities, and salaries. This is because living costs are generally lower outside of London, so businesses can offer higher wages and charge less for their services.
  2. Lower taxes: Many areas outside of London have lower tax rates, including business rates and corporate taxes. This can reduce the overall cost of doing business. If companies can deliver products into London rather than base themselves in there, their products and services can be cheaper.
  3. Lower competition: Depending on the industry, there may be less competition outside London. Companies can charge less for their services or products as they do not compete with many other businesses.
  4. Lower transport costs: Transport costs can be high, particularly for companies that rely on moving goods or travel for work. Companies outside London may have lower transport costs due to less congestion, shorter travel distances, and lower fuel costs.
  5. More flexible workforce: Companies outside of London may have access to a more flexible workforce, as there is often a larger pool of workers willing to work part-time or freelance. This can help reduce overall labour costs, as businesses only need to pay for the required time and services.

Many factors contribute to the lower cost of doing business outside of London. However, it is essential to note that every business is different, and the cost savings may vary depending on the specific industry, location, and other factors.

Are materials cheaper to buy in London, or is it just office space which is more affordable?

The cost of materials can vary depending on various factors, including the type of material, the supplier, and the location. However, generally speaking, the price of materials is relatively high in London compared to other areas of the UK.

However, the cost of office space is typically higher in London than in other parts of the UK. This is because London is a central business hub with a high demand for office space, which drives up prices. As a result, businesses in London may need to pay significantly more for office space than businesses in other areas.

The cost of office space is just one of many factors businesses must consider when deciding where to operate. Other factors, such as labour costs, taxes, and access to markets and suppliers, may also influence a business’ decision. Ultimately, companies need to weigh the pros and cons of different locations to determine the best option for their specific needs and budget.

Can you purchase all your printing materials from the UK?

Yes, purchasing all your printing materials from the UK is possible. The UK has a well-established printing industry, with a range of suppliers and manufacturers offering a variety of printing materials, including paper, ink, toner, and other consumables.

Many UK-based printing material suppliers offer online purchasing and delivery services, making ordering and receiving the materials you need for your printing projects easy. Some suppliers may also offer competitive pricing and discounts for bulk orders, which can help you save money on printing costs.

However, it is worth noting that some specialised printing materials may not be available in the UK or may need to be imported from other countries. In such cases, sourcing materials from international suppliers may be necessary.

Overall, while it is possible to purchase all your printing materials from the UK, it is crucial to research suppliers carefully and compares prices to ensure you are getting the best value for your money. This is something where Purely Digital excels. You can check out our reviews to see why we’re ranked as one of the best. Choose Purely Digital as your printing company of choice, rather than other printing companies in London.

Can I use a printing company to print my business cards even if they are not based in London?

Yes, you can use a printing company based outside of London to print your business cards. Many printing companies in the UK offer online services that allow customers to order and customise their business cards online, regardless of their location.

In fact, using a printing company outside of London may offer some advantages, such as lower costs and faster turnaround times. As mentioned earlier, operating costs can be lower outside of London, resulting in lower printing costs. Additionally, some printing companies may have faster turnaround times due to their more streamlined processes or proximity to your location.

When choosing a printing company to print your business cards, it is crucial to consider factors such as quality, pricing, turnaround time, and customer service. Be sure to research different printing companies, read reviews from previous customers, and compare pricing and services to find the best option for your needs.

Are Purely Digital trustworthy and reliable?

There are some steps you can take to evaluate the trustworthiness and reliability of a printing company, such as Purely Digital, before deciding to use our services:

  1. Check our website for information about the company’s history, services, and contact information. A reputable company should have a professional-looking website that is easy to navigate and provides clear information.
  2. Read customer reviews: Look for reviews from previous customers on our website, social media pages, or other review sites. Respond to positive and negative thoughts, and see how the company responds to customer feedback.
  3. Check our credentials: Look for certifications, awards, or other recognition the company has received. This can indicate their level of expertise and commitment to quality.
  4. Get a quote: Contact Purely Digital and request a quote for your project. A reliable company should be able to provide a detailed and transparent quote that outlines all costs and services.

By researching and evaluating the above factors, you can decide whether a printing company like Purely Digital is trustworthy and reliable.

Should I use the same company for my business cards that I would for wedding invites?

While using the same company for your business cards and wedding invitations is possible, there may be better options.

Business cards and wedding invitations have different design requirements and target audiences, so using other companies that specialise in each area may be more appropriate. For example, a company specialising in business card printing may need more expertise or design options for wedding invitations, which require a more personalised and formal touch.

Additionally, using different companies may give you more flexibility in pricing, quality, and delivery options. For example, you can find a company offering competitive pricing and high-quality services for one type of project but not the other.

Choosing the same company for your business cards and wedding invitations will depend on your specific needs and preferences. If you are happy with the company’s services and pricing for both projects, and they can meet your design and quality requirements, then using the same company may be convenient. However, if you have specific requirements for each project, it may be better to use different companies that specialise in each area.

What should I look for in customer reviews from printing companies?

When reading customer reviews from printing companies, there are several things to look for that can help you evaluate the quality and reliability of the company’s services. Here are some key things to keep in mind:

  1. Quality of printing: Look for reviews that mention the quality of the printing work, such as the sharpness of images, colour accuracy, and overall print quality.
  2. Turnaround time: Look for reviews that mention the company’s turnaround time, including how quickly they completed the project and whether they met any deadlines.
  3. Customer service: Look for reviews that mention the level of customer service provided by the company, such as how responsive they were to questions or concerns, whether they were friendly and professional, and whether they offered helpful advice.
  4. Pricing: Look for reviews that mention the company’s pricing, including whether they were competitive and whether there were any hidden fees or charges.
  5. Communication: Look for reviews that mention the company’s communication throughout the printing process, including how well they kept the customer informed of progress and any issues.
  6. Overall experience: Look for reviews that comprehensively evaluate the customer’s experience with the company, including whether they would use them again and recommend them to others.

By keeping these factors in mind when reading customer reviews, you can better understand the quality and reliability of a printing company’s services and decide whether to use their services for your printing needs. Wherever you are in the UK, we offer a great service as though we were one of the printing companies in London.

What are the benefits of a sustainable printing press machine?

A printing press machine is a mechanical device that transfers ink from a plate to a piece of paper or another printing substrate. The process of printing with a press machine typically involves creating a printing plate, which is a flat surface with the design or text to be printed etched into it. The plate is then inked, and the ink is transferred to the printing substrate under pressure.

Several printing press machines include offset lithography, letterpress, gravure, and screen printing. Each type of press machine is suited to different printing applications and uses various techniques to transfer ink to the printing substrate.

Printing press machines have been used for hundreds of years and are still widely used today, especially in the commercial printing industry. They are essential for producing high-quality printed materials, such as books, newspapers, magazines, packaging, and promotional materials. With the advent of digital printing technology, the role of traditional printing press machines has evolved, but they continue to be an essential part of the printing industry.

What sort of printing press machines do printing companies use?

Printing companies use a variety of printing press machines, depending on the type of printing job and the materials being printed. Some of the most common types of printing press machines used by printing companies include:

  1. Offset Lithography: Offset lithography is a popular printing method that uses a flat plate to transfer ink to a printing substrate. It is commonly used for printing large quantities of materials, such as books, magazines, and newspapers.
  2. Digital Printing: Digital printing uses computer-controlled printers to produce high-quality prints directly from digital files. It is well-suited for short-run jobs, such as business cards or brochures, and allows for quick and easy customisation of each printed piece.
  3. Flexography: Flexography is a form of relief printing that uses flexible plates to transfer ink to various printing substrates, including paper, plastic, and metal. It is commonly used for printing packaging materials, such as bags, boxes, and labels.
  4. Screen Printing: Screen printing is a stencil-based method that uses a mesh screen to transfer ink to a printing substrate. It is commonly used for printing t-shirts, posters, and other items with bold graphic designs.
  5. Gravure: Gravure is an intaglio printing method that uses etched copper or steel cylinders to transfer ink to a printing substrate. It is commonly used for printing high-quality images, such as photographs, and is often used for printing magazines and packaging materials.

These are just a few printing press machines used by printing companies. The type of press machine a company uses will depend on several factors, including the printing job, the printed materials, and the quality and quantity of prints required.

How do printers make scratchcards?

Scratch cards are typically produced by printing companies using a combination of printing press machines and specialised finishing equipment. The process typically involves the following steps:

  1. Design: The first step in producing scratch cards is to create a plan. This includes determining the size and layout of the card, as well as any images, text, and graphics to be included.
  2. Printing: Once the design is finalised, the printing process begins. The design is typically printed onto a paper or plastic stock appropriate for scratch card production. This can be done using various printing methods, such as offset lithography, digital printing, or flexography.
  3. Lamination: After the cards are printed, they are usually laminated with a protective film to make them more durable and resistant to wear and tear.
  4. Scratch-Off Layer: The next step is to apply a scratch-off layer to the cards. This is typically done using a specialised machine that applies a thin, opaque coating to the cards. This coating can be scratched off to reveal the information underneath.
  5. Personalisation: Once the scratch-off layer is applied, the cards can be personalised with unique information, such as numbers, codes, or prizes. This is typically done using a high-speed or digital printing press.
  6. Quality Control: After the cards are personalised, they undergo a quality control process to ensure they are free of defects and meet the required standards.
  7. Packaging: Finally, the cards are packaged and shipped to the customer.

Overall, the production of scratch cards involves several steps. These include design, printing, lamination, application of the scratch-off layer, personalisation, quality control, and packaging. In addition, printing companies use specialised equipment and techniques to ensure that each card is produced to the highest standards. This meets the customer’s specific requirements for business cards and scratchcards.

Can printing machines ever be environmentally friendly?

Yes, printing machines can be environmentally friendly, and many printing companies are taking steps to reduce their environmental impact. Here are some ways that printing machines can be made more environmentally friendly:

  1. Energy Efficiency: Many printing machines are designed to be energy efficient, using less energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Some printing companies use renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind power, to reduce their carbon footprint.

  2. Recyclable Materials: Many printing machines are constructed from recyclable materials, reducing waste generated during production and helping to conserve resources.
  3. Water Conservation: Some printing machines are designed to use less water during the printing process. The idea is to reduce the amount of water consumed and helping to conserve this precious resource.
  4. Chemical Reduction: Many printing companies are taking steps to reduce the use of toxic chemicals in the printing process. This includes using eco-friendly inks and coatings and reducing the amount of waste generated by the printing process.
  5. Digital Printing: Digital printing is becoming increasingly popular as a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional printing methods. Digital printing uses less energy and generates less waste, as there is no need for plates or film. Printing only the exact quantity of materials required is possible, reducing waste.

While no printing process is entirely environmentally friendly, companies are reducing their impact and making their operations more sustainable. By using energy-efficient machines, recycled materials, and eco-friendly inks and coatings, printing companies can help minimise their environmental impact.

You can also use directories such as Yelp, Yellow Pages, and Thomson Local. You can also check for local advertising and print media for large format printers in your area. When searching for a large format printing company, consider factors such as cost, quality, turnaround time, and customer reviews.

When would you need to use a printing company?

A printing company is typically used for creating physical copies of designs, images, documents, or any content. Some common reasons for using a printing company include:

  1. Marketing materials: brochures, flyers, posters, banners, and other promotional materials can be printed to support marketing efforts.
  2. Business materials: business cards, letterheads, envelopes, and other business stationery can be printed by a printing company.
  3. Books and magazines: printing companies can print and bind books, magazines, and other printed materials in various formats and quantities.

Are printing materials cheaper in the Midlands than in London?

It is difficult to make a blanket statement about the cost of printing materials in the Midlands versus London, as the cost can vary depending on various factors such as the type of material being printed, the quantity, the size, the printing technology used, and the printing company itself.

However, in general, printing costs in the Midlands may be lower compared to London due to lower operating costs for printing companies in the region. On the other hand, London is a major business and financial centre, and printing companies in the city may charge higher prices due to higher overhead costs.

It is best to get quotes from several printing companies in both regions and compare their prices, services, and quality before making a decision.

Will a printing company deliver my goods to me in the UK?

Yes, many printing companies in the UK offer delivery services for their products. Delivery options can vary between printing companies and may depend on factors such as the size and weight of the products, the distance of the delivery, and the delivery timeframe. Some printing companies may offer standard delivery within a certain timeframe, while others may offer express or same-day delivery for an additional cost.

It is important to check the delivery options and costs with the printing company before placing an order. Some printing companies may also offer international shipping, but this will depend on the company and the destination country.

Will business cards help me spread awareness of my brand in London?

Business cards can be an effective tool for spreading awareness of your brand in London, but it is just one of many possible marketing strategies. Business cards serve as a tangible and portable representation of your brand, making it easy for you to make a strong first impression with potential customers and partners. You can include important information such as your name, title, contact details, and logo on the card, allowing people to easily reach you and learn more about your brand.

However, it is important to consider the design and quality of your business cards, as this can impact their effectiveness in spreading brand awareness. A well-designed, high-quality business card that accurately represents your brand can help to establish credibility and create a lasting impression with those who receive it.

In addition to business cards, you can also consider other marketing strategies to spread brand awareness in London, such as digital marketing, advertising, public relations, and event marketing.

Is the Midlands a good place for businesses?

The Midlands region of the UK can be a good place for businesses for several reasons. Some advantages of the Midlands for businesses include:

  1. Location: The Midlands is located in the centre of the UK, making it well-connected to other major cities and regions in the country. This makes it a convenient location for businesses looking to reach a national market.
  2. Cost of living: Compared to London and other major cities, the cost of living in the Midlands is relatively low, which can make it an attractive location for businesses looking to reduce their operating costs.
  3. Talent pool: The Midlands has a large and diverse workforce, making it easier for businesses to find the skills and talent they need.
  4. Industry clusters: The Midlands is home to a number of industry clusters, such as automotive, logistics, and aerospace, which can provide businesses with a supportive network and access to resources.
  5. Infrastructure: The Midlands has a well-developed infrastructure, including a good transport network and high-quality digital connectivity, which can make it easier for businesses to operate and grow.

However, the suitability of the Midlands for businesses will depend on the specific needs and goals of the business. It is important to consider factors such as the size of the market, the competition, and the regulatory environment, among others, before making a decision.

Why is this relevant? Well, because we are based in the Midlands, Purely Digital can act as a printing company in London for much cheaper costs. We’re never that far away, and our delivery service makes it much cheaper than you would expect.

Why do most businesses in London go bankrupt?

Businesses in London, like in any other region, can go bankrupt for a variety of reasons. Some common reasons for business failure in London include:

  1. Lack of demand: If a business cannot generate enough revenue to cover its costs, it can face financial difficulties and potentially go bankrupt.
  2. Poor financial management: Businesses that do not keep a close eye on their finances, manage their cash flow effectively, or make sound financial decisions can run into financial trouble.
  3. Competition: In a competitive market like London, businesses may struggle to differentiate themselves and attract customers, leading to declining revenue and profitability.
  4. Economic downturns: Economic downturns and recessions can lead to a decrease in consumer spending, making it more difficult for businesses to generate revenue and stay afloat.
  5. Ineffective marketing: Businesses that do not effectively market their products or services may struggle to reach their target audience, leading to a lack of sales and revenue.
  6. High operating costs: London is a major business and financial centre, and businesses may face higher operating costs compared to other regions, such as rent, utilities, and employee salaries, among others.

It is important to note that business failure is a risk for any business, regardless of location, and there are also many successful businesses in London that have overcome these challenges and achieved long-term success.

What are the benefits of using a commercial printer over buying a printer?

Friday, November 4th, 2022
Purely Digital are a commercial printer in Derby - Use them today

Printing is an essential business process; companies of all sizes need a reliable commercial printer to get their work done efficiently. Before you look for a new commercial printer, consider a few things to help you choose the right one for your business. Below are the benefits of using a commercial printer company like Purely Digital over buying a printer to deal with in-house. If you’re in the East Midlands and Derby, we can be your commercial printer of choice.

1) What are the unique needs of your company?

Before you begin looking at printers, you should first identify the unique business needs of your company so that you can find a commercial printer that will match your needs. For example, if you need to work with a printer that can print vast quantities at high speeds, then you should look to contact a reliable company that offers an efficient and sustainable printing service. You should look for a business that uses a printer with a high-speed toner or another type of ink.

Home printer: If you need your printer to be portable, you should look for one that is battery-powered or can be hooked up to an external power source. Whatever the needs of your business may be, you should be able to find a printer that meets them.

2) How will the printer be used?

Another important consideration is how the printing equipment will be used. For example, some printers can print in black and white and colour, while others can only print one or the other. If you go to a corporate printing service that offers commercial printing, you will not find this issue. Others can print in only one format at a time. In addition, some printers are capable of copying as well as printing, while others are not.

Home printer: Finally, some printers can use various types of paper and media while other types of printers cannot. For each type of printer, you will need to consider the uses you intend for it to determine what type of printer will be best for your needs.

3) How will the printer be maintained?

Another factor you need to consider when choosing a company to do your printing is how it can be maintained. All commercial printers require a certain amount of maintenance to ensure they work correctly and perform optimally. In addition to regular cleaning of the unit, you will need to regularly replace the ink cartridges, toner cartridges and other consumables as needed. If your printer requires a great deal of maintenance to keep it working efficiently and reliably, it will need to be more costly than a printer that requires less maintenance. That is just another reason, if you are in Derby, why a commercial printer is recommended.

Home printer: When choosing a printer, you will want to consider how often it will need to be serviced and by whom, so that you can make a more informed decision about which printer will best suit the needs of your business.

4) How much space will the printer take up?

You should also consider how much space a home printer will take up in your office. If you plan to place the printer on your desk or in the corner of your office, you will probably not have any problems. However, if you intend to put the printer in a storage room or another area that is not frequently used, you may have to find another place. That’s why a commercial printing company should be your choice.

5 reasons why Purely Digital are committed to sustainable printing

Monday, August 8th, 2022

Purely Digital have always believed in sustainable printing from the outset. Our owner Andy has been a big believer in finding ways to help save the environment and climate since the inception of our company. There are plenty of reasons why he believes in this cause, which we will go into below. But as always, actions speak louder than words, and that’s why Purely Digital ensure we practice what we preach. Here are 5 reasons why this corporate printing company is committed to sustainable printing.

1)    We can help create more woodland – thus saving the environment

Since 2013, we’ve been actively planting new trees across the UK as part of the Premier Paper Group’s Carbon Capture® scheme. So, even though we are using (recycling-friendly) paper and packaging for our Direct Mail and scratchcard campaigns, we are also replacing what we use. 2779.14㎡ is the area of the new native woodland we have created since we started our environmentally friendly campaigns. We are dedicated to doing good for our planet.

Basically, thanks to our sustainable printing processes led by Andy, we can help to save the environment and provide a better future for our children.

2) We can inspire others to be sustainable through sustainable printing

If a printing company can be sustainable, why can’t others? We choose our materials to be as environmentally friendly as we can. We always try to source responsibly for you, but that doesn’t mean we let ourselves dip in quality. Our business cards, scratchcards and direct mail leaflets are obviously still of an incredibly high standard. So, whilst some may query how you can be sustainable whilst working in the printing industry, we’re about to tell you how we do it and why it should inspire others to be greener.

Sustainable printing requires much effort, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done. Yes, there is a lot of complicated jargon, but that’s what this article is all about! We’re here to explain why we are committed to being a sustainable printing company. Plus, we can help your business become greener and cleaner.

3) The benefits outweigh the risks

Because of how the world is going, customers have been known to get a real buzz when they discover their eco-friendly items. Not only does the environment benefit, but your brand will too! However, as mentioned in this article here, supply and demand economics cannot fully capture the value of sustainability within a business.

A happy customer who is thrilled with their product and the environmentally friendly impact can do wonders for your business. Whether through word of mouth or reviews, if your brand is known to be working with sustainable practices, it’s a great unique selling point. Plus, it makes your company or business very attractive to work with.

Additionally, other benefits of offering sustainable printing services include efficiency and speed. You can submit a faster turnaround, and if, like Purely Digital, they deliver straight to you, it all contributes to saving the environment.

4) You can’t afford to be unsustainable

So, we know the benefits of being (and using) a sustainable printing company, but we also know the negatives if you are not a sustainable company. Not only do you miss out on the benefits mentioned above and the advantages, but you will be harming the environment. That is number one on our list of negatives. Forget about the damage that can be done to your brand. The harm you are doing to the world and climate is why you should always look to develop environmentally friendly business practices.

Your contribution to waste production will be measured, and there are likely to be more harmful chemicals at play in the production of your materials. Some printing companies may also leave machines running all night, which is a waste and bad for the environment. They are consuming more energy which is a big negative for the environment. It is, in effect, unsustainable. Check out Purely Digital’s credentials and eco-friendly page to see our accreditation which we are so proud of!

5) We just want to be Purely Green

Although it sounds like a cliché, we do just want the world to be a better place. By being a sustainable printing company for corporate companies, we are changing the world for the better. In the news, there are enough warnings about waste, landfills, pollution, and global warming to make us realise that we need to do better. So, to help combat this, our aim is to be purely green.

It helps our business, and it also helps yours. Your carbon footprint will likely decrease, but it will also improve your business’s efficiency. We work with one eye on the future. By improving the journey we take you on, we help create a better future.

2022 – An alternative way to share your passwords

Monday, June 6th, 2022

Cybersecurity has never been more important for businesses around the world. Since the coronavirus pandemic rocked the world in 2020, many companies have opted to work remotely. Although this clearly has plenty of benefits, there are also some negatives to consider which could impact your business.

There are arguments for and against working remotely, mainly relating to efficiency and trust, but other aspects need to be considered. This includes cybersecurity and how safe working digitally can really be for your business. A recent study by Tessian found that one-third of employees admitted they had picked up bad security habits while working at home, but 89% still expressed a preference for working remotely during the week. One-quarter of employees also said they would not report mistakes. IT leaders, therefore, need to address changes to employees’ security habits if they are to continue hybrid working arrangements without the huge risk to the cybersecurity of the business.

The need for increased security measures hasn’t escaped us here at Purely Digital; that’s why we’ve been helping companies transfer their passwords physically, both helping companies strengthen the passwords used by employees and reducing the risks of them being intercepted by cybercriminals. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? Carry on reading to learn more about sharing passwords in the form of scratch cards with Purely Digital.

How can you physically transfer a password?

We are well beyond the age of writing down a password on a notepad and handing it over. Instead, many companies opt to use password manager tools which are encrypted to ensure that passwords are kept safe. However, whilst these are a good idea, they are only good once you have stored and saved the password.

The tricky part for many companies is sending passwords to individuals electronically and digitally. If, for example, you want to send someone a password and logins via email, it can end up in the wrong hands. The sender may accidentally email the wrong person, or the message may be intercepted by a cybercriminal.

Well, that no longer has to be the case. In recent years, IT departments have opted to send passwords via mail to their employees. This is more secure than it sounds! Passwords can be sent as a scratch card making it a completely secure way to send and receive this information. If passwords are received with any part of the scratch-off panel removed, they are void, if not, you know they have not been seen by anyone other than the intended recipient.

Tim Sandler, Tession CEO and co-founder said that “IT leaders need to prioritise building a security culture that empowers people to work securely and productively and understand how to encourage long-lasting behavioural change over time if they’re going to thrive in this new way of working.”

Using scratch cards to communicate secure passwords and log-in information is a great way to reinforce your company’s serious attitude regarding the importance of online security and are a user-friendly way to exchange information with employees, encouraging them to consider and change their own behaviour in relation to cybersecurity.

How do Purely Digital scratchcards work?

Scratch cards work as a powerful marketing tool for your business; but they don’t have to be used or considered purely marketing tools. At Purely Digital, our scratch card service has helped clients worldwide create innovative marketing campaigns for their businesses.  However, using them to exchange secure information is becoming increasingly popular; and because of our expertise using them for marketing promotions, you can be confident that they can be beautifully designed, with gold or silver scratch-off areas, to reflect the branding and values of your business too. Take a look at our Purely Digital scratchcards product page to see what we are talking about.

A scratch card does not always have to be about winning the lottery and a million pounds (although that would be nice!). So let Purely Digital scratchcards help you keep your passwords safe and secure via transferring them through physical cards.

Example of security code

Ideal for start-ups

Some companies will have state-of-the-art cyber and network security. However, as a small start-up or a company with a small budget, it is unlikely you have extensive security protocols in place. You might be sharing passwords over email or via a spreadsheet, for example.

This should be a big no-no. Although we don’t proclaim to be cybersecurity experts, Team Purely is fully aware of the pitfalls of sharing confidential data over the PC. We are so keen to let companies know of the password sharing available ideas. With remote working becoming increasingly popular, it has never been more important to be more protective of your passwords. The money spent on password sharing scratch cards will save you money in the long term, reducing the chances of your data being compromised.

Purely Digital Printing

HERE AT PURELY DIGITAL, WE TAKE OUR ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES VERY SERIOUSLY. WE ARE COMMITTED TO BEING AS CLEAN AND GREEN AS POSSIBLE. WE WANT TO OFFER SUSTAINABLE PRINTING IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD.

As a sustainable printing company we recognise the impact our work, and the perceived impact our industry, in particular, can have on trees, as well as the potential impact on the world that this can have. This is why it is so important to us that we offset our work, which we do in a variety of different ways using our planting printing machine.

Back in 2008, at the birth of Purely Digital, we began our environmental journey and looked into ways that we could use renewable energy within the business. We started this by using energy from EON generated by wind farms.

Then, in 2013, we discovered the Premier Paper Group’s Carbon Capture scheme, which aims to mitigate carbon dioxide emissions generated by the production, storage and distribution of paper. So we instantly signed up!

To date, our efforts have enabled Purely Digital to create over 2,000㎡ new native woodlands to remove more than 80,000kg of Carbon Dioxide.

As part of the scheme, for each tonne of paper that we have purchased from Premier Paper, £8.50 has been paid to the Woodland Trust to go towards planting trees to create new areas of native woodland in the UK.

But that didn’t feel enough, we wanted to do more. Whilst the Carbon Capture scheme offsets the manufacture and transport of paper to our premises, we wanted to do something about all the carbon that our work emits. So in 2015, we became the first UK printer to take part in the full capture scheme whereby all the carbon we produce as a business is offset. Even now, four years on, there are only a handful of other printing companies UK wide taking part!

Since joining the scheme we have become a Certified Carbon Capture Company which enables us to offset every single bit of CO2 that we emit as a company, including the printed paper we produce.

So far, Purely Digital alone has been responsible for the planting of over 2,000m2 of trees to remove over 80,000kg of carbon dioxide, something which we are very proud of, particularly as that number is increasing daily.

For the next step of our offsetting journey we are going to be rolling up our sleeves, grabbing a spade and getting out in the great outdoors to get planting!

Purely Digital Printing

The Premier Paper Group and The Woodland Trust hold planting days where everyone participating in the scheme, along with their clients, can get involved in getting the trees in the ground. On November 21st, to mark National Tree Week, we are thrilled to be joining in with a planting day close to home. We’ll be heading to Mead near Heanor in Derbyshire, which is the newest area to be acquired by the Woodland Trust and will be the first Young People’s Forest.

Our sustainable printing contribution and aim for Purely Digital is to plant 150 trees in one day!

Why 150? It is said that everyone on the planet would need to plant 150 trees to reverse the damage that carbon emissions have caused over the past 10 years alone.

The planting day is also part of The Big Climate Fightback, a Woodland Trust campaign to get one million people to join the fight against climate change by pledging to plant a tree before the end of November this year.
