The Wide Format Printer and Its Uses

Any printer that prints around 17 inches to 100 inches is known as a “wide format printer”. These are printers that are not found in households but in printing businesses; they are incredibly useful in the printing market and open up many printing possibilities for small and big businesses alike. Any print jobs larger than this width is known as a super-wide format printer. The fact that makes wide format printers so advantageous is that even on huge print jobs, the quality of the print can still be maintained as well as it could be on a piece of paper; but what specific uses does a wide-format or super-wide format printer have?

Firstly, a wide format printer’s most common usage is through making banners. Banners are obviously sizable pieces of advertising, and businesses often want professional-looking banners to promote their product or idea.

Wide format printers can produce banners very economically as they are a quick piece of technology, and the finished product also comes out colour rich and well detailed. These types of banners can be used at business events and/or more personal occasions, and often last a long time to the versatile nature of the printers being able to print on many surfaces such as fabric and plastic. Publishers may also put a wide format printer to good use, by printing off specific visual aids to either promote certain products, use in educational situations such as lectures and in many other educational programs.

Engineers and architects may also use the wide format printing technology for their work specifically – as well as building and architecture companies. Wide format printers can reproduce blueprints, building plans and other types of detailed work in this area; and due to the nature of the wide format printer being able to print very detailed versions on a bigger scale, this is necessary for architects to reproduce the same level of detail that was included on their original copy. Graphics firms and graphic designers also have similar needs, to recreate their work samples on a larger basis and to also be displayed in different ways, for example at exhibitions.

On a more personal level, small businesses and even in the household can benefit from the uses of a wide format printer. Businesses may use the technology to produce visual aids for when presenting ideas at conferences. Wide format printers can also be used for interior decorating, for example a wall piece in a house or if a real professional art print cannot be afforded, a printed replica of that piece of art.

Overall, the wide format printer is very versatile and can offer many services to a whole range of businesses and professions. It offers quality on a larger scale and a useful piece of technology when requiring a professional and polished image.
